Speaking out

Courage for Women

In October 2005 Courage for Women was launched at Reclaim the Night Events in Port Macquarie NSW.  As the Founder of Courage for Women Glenda’s artwork was the inspiration behind a bookmark now circulated both nationally and internationally, providing support organisations an opportunity to provide emergency contact details on the reverse side and vital information for local support organisations.

Speaking out at the 2006 Reclaim the Night concert  in  Port Macquarie NSW.  Read the  “THE TRUTH IS” written by Glenda and shared by Glenda and volunteers on behalf of victims and survivors of sexual assault.

Speaking out at the 2007 International Women’s Day Dinner in Wauchope on the “myth, lies and stereotypes” and the “truth about sexual assault”.

Courage for Women featured in the  International issue of the newsletter of Rape Crisis Scotland, as one of only two articles provided from Australia.

Each year Courage for Women donates resources to the  libraries and the local sexual assault unit at Port Macquarie, to empower victims and survivors, to educate professionals and to foster a greater understanding in the community of the needs of victims and survivors of sexual assault.

In 2006 Glenda participated  in a forum for survivors of sexual assault, for the development of a new booklet specifically for female victims of sexual assault. The booklet is to be out in 2007 and distributed  widely  to support  services, emergency departments, health department and legal services,  compiled by the Education Centre Against Violence
